Something to Think About !
We posted an article in the blog relating a story that might not be based upon a true incident but it could happen.
It warns people to not put their home phone number in their contact list on their cell phones. It also warns about other things that should not be kept in your car. The article is here
The bare minimum amount of exercise you need to stay healthy (it's less than you think!)
We've heard time and time again that people should be active almost daily to stave off weight gain and disease. But busy people want to know: What's the least amount of exercise I can get away with and still stay healthy? The answer will shock you...
What number did you guess? An hour a week? A half hour? Try seven minutes. Check out these exercise trends for 2009!
According to British researchers, just seven minutes of exercise weekly may prevent diabetes by controlling your blood sugar. Type 2 diabetes affects an estimated 246 million adults worldwide and accounts for 6 percent of all global deaths. People with this condition gradually lose the ability to use insulin to convert food to energy.
Here's the catch: The exercise has to be vigorous. (We're talking on the level of an all-out sprint.) But at seven minutes a pop, I can deal with that! And you don't even have to do those seven minutes all at once, either. In the study, volunteers rode exercise bikes four times a day in 30-second spurts twice a week. After two weeks, subjects had a 23 percent improvement in how effectively their body cleared blood sugar from their bodies. Studies show that vigorous exercise also reduces the risk of breast cancer. How much exercise do you get weekly? Do you prefer moderate or intense workouts? Would you do a vigorous seven-minute workout if you knew it would prevent diabetes?

Commodore Ronald Spies is now now famous because he is appearing in the "Got Mustard Campaign" He also famous for being the Commodore of the Detroit Regional Yacht-racing Association (DRYA). The DRYA is currently conducting it's weekly seninars at various area Yacht Clubs. (See Wednesday's events) . Ron is also the Past-Commodore of the Grosse Isle Yacht Club
So when you see or contact Ron be sure to tell him you've seen him in the "Got Mustard" campaign. You can see the other hundreds of people by clicking on the underlined words above.
So many people have volunteered to participate that we have found it necessary to change the way the slide show runs so that people can browse rather than wait to see their photo with the "digital mustard" on their upper lip. One can replace the phrase in the section box with their first name and deleting any other text in the box. Then only the slides that contain that name are displayed.
If you had your photo taken and can't find it in the slide show please send us an email. If you would like to send a photo to be included, send it to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will supply the "digital mustard".
Congratulations Commodore Spies!
