How Children View Their Grandparents!

like mommy
A grandfather was delivering his grandchildren to their home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's duties.
"They use him to keep crowds back," said one child.
"No," said another. "He's just for good luck."
A third child brought the argument to a close."They use the dogs," she said firmly, "to find the fire hydrants."

Letters from our readers

Dear Peggy Jo,

I read it.  Apparently everything the woman did towards the dog was WRONG.  It gave her WARNINGS SIGNS that it was unhappy with her being so close to its face.

The poor dog had just been rescued from falling through the ice on a frozen lake THE DAY BEFORE.  It was still traumatized and scared.

People need to learn how to LISTEN TO ANIMALS.  They "speak" their own language.  They do not speak English or Russian.  We must learn to "read" their "signs."

Poor Boy was scared too when I first got him.  He was terrified.  I could not pet him.  I could not hold his head.  I could not get my face near him.  NOW LOOK AT HIM!  Yes, I was afraid, but I LISTENED to the signals Boy gave me:  bared his teeth, scared looking eyes, grumble in his throat before a bark.  I respected that and BACKED AWAY.  He eventually learned that he IS OKAY NOW - old problems are gone.  And he is a big LOVE.

I hope this teaches people to LISTEN to the animals and not EXPECT THEM to UNDERSTAND YOU immediately!
S.

" 2 We all make many mistakes, but those who control their tongues can also control themselves in every other way. 3 We can make a large horse turn around and go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. 4 And a tiny rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot wants it to go, even though the winds are strong. 5 So also, the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do. A tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. 6 And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is full of wickedness that can ruin your whole life. It can turn the entire course of your life into a blazing flame of destruction, for it is set on fire by hell itself. 7 People can tame all kinds of animals and birds and reptiles and fish, 8 but no one can tame the tongue. It is an uncontrollable evil, full of deadly poison."
James 3:2-8
