Brenan is now famous for appearing in the Got Mustard Campaign

He is also famous for being the son of Kelli (O'Halloran) McNeer and Micah McNeer of Nashville Tennesee. He is 8 months old now, but would have been 4 1/2 months old at the time of the photo for Halloween.

So when you see or contact Brenan be sure to tell him you saw him in the Peggy Jo Studio Newsletter. You can see the other hundreds of people by clicking on the underlined words above.

You can browse rather than wait to see a particular photo with the "digital mustard" on the upper lip. Just replace the phrase in the section box with a first name and delete any other text in the box. Then only the slides that contain that name are displayed.

If you had your photo taken and can\'t find it in the slide show please send us an email. If you would like to send a photo to be included, send it to webmaster@peggyjostudio.net. We will supply the "digital mustard".

Congratulations Brenan !!

February is National Bird-Feeding Month

By Bill Askenburg

National Bird-Feeding Month was created to advance and publicize the wild bird feeding and watching hobby and each February, a new and unique theme is adopted. The theme for 2010 is "Hatching Out ?

An Introduction to the Wild Bird Feeding Hobby." National Bird-Feeding Month reveals the joy of wild bird feeding by surveying basic techniques to create a successful wild bird feeding and watching experience. To join millions of other wild bird feeding hobbyists, you just need a bird feeder, bird seed, and a place from which to watch your birds. "Whether you live in a rural, suburban, or urban environment there are always birds in your neighborhood you can attract to your yard" says Dr. David J. Horn, Associate Professor of Biology at Millikin University.

To attract birds to your yard, having the right combination of food and feeders is key to your success. Horn who recently completed Project Wildbird, the largest study on wild bird seed and feeder preferences in North America, suggests that a great way to get started is to put out a tubular feeder filled with black-oil sunflower seed. "Wild bird feeding is not only for the birds, but also for the people who feed them. Thus, you should place your feeder in a location where you can readily enjoy watching your birds" says Horn.

Horn recommends that you add to your experience with a variety of bird feeders, novel foods, and binoculars to view your feathered friends. "While black-oil sunflower is a popular choice for many birds, you can enhance the feeding experience by adding new combinations of feeders and seed" says Horn. For example, woodpeckers, nuthatches, and titmice are attracted especially to whole peanuts, and Nyjer is popular for attracting goldfinches. Tubular feeders are appropriate for small-bodied birds, but larger birds usually require larger feeders such as hoppers and platforms. "While every month is bird-feeding month, I am particularly excited about the 2010 theme: Hatching Out? says Stacey Shonkwiler, Manager of the National-Bird Feeding Society. "There are so many benefits to wild bird feeding that we are delighted to promote the best in bird feeding practices this February and year-round. Happy National Bird-Feeding Month! The National Bird-Feeding Society (NBFS) is the proud sponsor of National Bird-Feeding Month. The NBFS helps make the backyard bird feeding and watching hobby better for people and wild birds. The NBFS accomplishes its mission by connecting hobbyists with education and research about backyard bird feeding.

I don't know about you, but I'm always misplacing those great tips we get in emails----Thanx Mary M for sending the coffee filter tips again.
Peggy Jo

The wonders of coffee filters

Better than paper towels and a lot less expensive

Coffee filters ---- Who knew! And you can buy 1,000 at the Dollar Tree for almost nothing even the large ones.
1. Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave. Coffee filters make excellent covers.
2. Clean windows, mirrors, and chrome... Coffee filters are lint-free so they'll leave windows sparkling.
3. Protect China by separating your good dishes with a coffee filter between each dish.
4. Filter broken cork from wine. If you break the cork when opening a wine bottle, filter the wine through a coffee filter.
5. Protect a cast-iron skillet. Place a coffee filter in the skillet to absorb moisture and prevent rust.
6. Apply shoe polish. Ball up a lint-free coffee filter.
7. Recycle frying oil. After frying, strain oil through a sieve lined with a coffee filter.
8. Weigh chopped foods. Place chopped ingredients in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale.
9. Hold tacos. Coffee filters make convenient wrappers for messy foods.
10. Stop the soil from leaking out of a plant pot. Line a plant pot with a coffee filter to prevent the soil from going through the drainage holes.
See the rest here

From our Readers

Dear Peggy Jo,
My recycling ideas: - Wine corks - there is a disabled man that attends St. Columban's Church in Birmingham that makes trivets out of the wine corks. You can drop them off to me and I can take them to Church or take them there yourself. paulaedson@hotmail.com

- Wine bottles - I started saving empty wine bottles when recycling bins were not accepting them. I put them on Craigslist.org for free. I get lots of "takers" to take them away. They use them for wine making, crafts or garden decorations. They are always grateful to receive them. I tell them where I live and put them on the front porch.

- Magazines - I have a "thing" about throwing out old magazines. When I was taking my mom to the Imaging Center at Beaumont, there only Men's magazines. I park in the X-ray parking spaces in front of the Imaging Center and put them in the magazine racks on the First and Second Floor. They are always appreciated by the people on duty. A good day is Saturday. There isn't anybody in the parking places
