We Need Your Help

We have been receiving comments from people saying that the format of our weekly newsletter is coming out in a strange way. In order to solve this problem, the various technical people along the processing line need information in order to detect the reason why some people are not receiving their newsletters in the intended format, which is two columns. We send the same file to more than 8,000 email addresses every Sunday night or Monday morning via Constant Contact, our email provider. It is processed in about 20 minutes.

What we would like you to do:

  • Nothing, if you are receiving the newsletter in a consistent format and you receive it by Monday noon each week.
  • Forward your newsletter to webmaster@peggyjostudio.net.
  • Include the time and date that you received the newsletter
  • Include any comments that you think are appropriate
  • Tell us what email program you are using.
  • Ask your friends if they are still receiving the newsletter. If one does not open their newsletter for a period of 90 days they might become classified as undeliverable and will be dropped from the distribution list. If they want to get back on the list refer them to pjnews.mobi or the archived newsletters at http://www.peggyjostudio.net/archivenews.php for the sign up form.

Some facts that may impact the problem:

  • Email does not always travel the same route on each transmission. Some servers may become overloaded and/or disabled and rerouting takes place.
  • Two people living close together and using the same email service may be serviced by different servers.
  • The internet is not some huge computer but many interconnected small computers all over then world.
  • Our subcribers use various email programs such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Safari Mail etc.
  • Our subscribers to various Internet Service Providers such as Wowway, comcast, Yahoo, Aol etc.
  • We are aware of all of the above variances and we are careful to not use any brand new functions that might not be supported by all programs.
  • The format of a document is controlled by embeded codes that give instructions to the devices where the the document is displayed and if codes are lost during transmission the resulting document is not properly formed which leads us think that transmission problems are causing the problem.
  • The internet and email proccessing is growing at a very high rate and equipment to carry the load sometimes falls behind the requirements
  • Internet Service Providers are lobbying for the cessation of \"Network Neutrality\" so that they can raise their rates for customers who can afford to pay more for what they have always been promised.

Club Trips, Special Events and Cruises

Over on the left column of this newsletter is a link to a list of events that are occurring in the future and require advance preparations. We are encouraging club publicists to use our entry procedure to let us know about these events. Readers can access this list at http://www.graynwhite.com/admin/TripsAndCruises.php This link is available from one's desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

Disaster Avoidance

seminar Commander Hohlfeldt grew up in the marinas and clubs along Lake St Clair. He attended United States Coast Guard Officer Candidate School and served 22 years in the USCG and USCGR in various capacities before he retired as a Commander. He continues to work as a volunteer in the USCG Auxiliary as coxswain, air crewman, vessel inspector. He also serves as an instructor in boating safety, navigation, search coordination, search execution, team coordination training and USCG Academy admissions partner. He is a Past Commodore of the Grosse Pointe Boat Club.
He will present a program focusing on the USGC and the USCG Academy. It will include an overview of the USCG on the Great Lakes and discuss the volunteer USCG Auxiliary and its role. He will show an entertaining video "Coldwater Boot Camp USA" with ''Dr Popsicle'', which emphasizes the importance of wearing (not stowing!) personal protective gear. Cdr. Hohlfeldt will tell us how to help the Coast Guard help us, including emergency communications, position reporting and how to take the search out of SAR. He will describe towing and helicopter evacuation preparation. The importance of the vessel safety check program and check sheets will be addressed; how to be prepared, have it done, and get the decal.

Some preventative maintenance can go a long way toward maintaining a boat's appearance and structural stability. How do you prevent water from intruding into your deck and what do you do if it does? Learn tried and true techniques on painting, varnishing, and fiberglass repair from an experienced professional. Tim operates Sarns Marine. Tim has a lifetime of experience in boat repair and boat maintenance that he is willing to share with us and you'll still have time before launch to apply some of what you learn this evening.

Blue Water International Ski Club

Port Huron, MI & Sarnia, ONTARIO

In the past few seasons we've skied; Vail and Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado; Moonlight Basin, Montana; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Whistler and Panorama, British Columbia; Killington, Vermont and Sugerloaf, Maine just to name a few. Because we travel as a club we enjoy reduced rates on airfare, lift tickets and condo fees, so our trips are reasonable and affordable. New members will find that we double as a social club with fun, interactive meetings and events such as BBQ's, golf outings and sailing get togethers planned year round. National Day of Prayer

THU 2015-05-07

Once again we will be gathering to observe the National Day Of Prayer at Shain Park in downtown Birmingham.

The National Day of Prayer is far more than a day to gather and pray. it is truly part of a much larger prayer movement that is changing the conditions of our culture.

ndp The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress' proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.

BE THERE! 11:45am
From 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.. Location: Shain Park. Bates and Merrill, Birmingham, Mi.
