Gourmet Mustard

mustard Charley, the singing hotdog man at Comerica Park quoted in the March 6 issue of Hour magazine.

"Mustard complements rather than masks," says Charley Marcuse, the Comerica Park hot-dog vendor who launched his own brand of the condiment and is working on three more. "A lot of people have four, five, six mustards in the refrigerator. They want a little different taste and texture for different foods."

Emails from our Readers

Dear Peggy Jo,
I went to the big town meeting the other night to see Mitch Albom, Jeff Daniels, Andy Meisner, Mike Binder, and many more speak about the Governor's demise of the film industry in Michigan. I wrote a note on facebook and thought you may want to post the info on your website. Here's what I wrote:

The film industry tax incentive benefit is about to be cancelled by Gov. Snyder in Michigan. This would be tragic for all of us. The industry tax incentive is keeping graduates in the entertainment field, from all colleges in Michigan, from moving out of the State. These budding actors and technicians have selected Michigan to be the place they want to work and live. Unfortunately, They are going to leave if the incentive is lost.
Also losing are the workers, suppliers, housing, catering, subcontractors, movie extras, retailers, restaurants, new studios being built and everyone else. This is a big blow to an already ailing State that is rapidly losing our youth and population.
You can help by finding your state rep, at the website listed below, and let them know not to vote for this change that has brought us so much benefit. My wife, Jackie, is one of those losing income, as her "Studio Services" Dept. has been supplying apparel and accessories for movies and TV regularly.
Thanks for your support. Go to the site below to find your state rep.
Dear Sandy,
You have good timing. The Uptown Festival is taking place this coming weekend and it is featuring Michigan films and talent. Click here to see the event

County Spelling Bee

This event spans the period from 2011-03-18 to 2011-04-10
Music and Lyrics by William Finn, Book by Rachel Sheinkin Conceived by Rebecca Feldman, Additional Material by Jay Reiss Welcome to Putnam County! Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. This tuneful, offbeat musical comedy celebrates the mania of competition, and offers audience members the opportunity (strictly voluntary) to become part of the action as on-stage spellers. One of the songs sums it up best: "If you like to laugh, if you like to spell, you'll like this competition very well." Director: Jerry Haines
.. Location: Baldwin Theater. 150 S Lafayette, Royal Oak, Mi
