" Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:"

GET A BUDDY! - WHATEVER YOUR AGE

I’ve heard several stories recently of some of the dangers that people living alone might face. The most common theme has been: If only someone knew they were in trouble. Sometimes, it has been so severe that a person has been found only after tragically lying incapacitated on the floor for several days. This inspired me to renew the PJSN campaign: GET A BUDDY! – WHATEVER YOUR AGE.

In talking to friends about the subject, responses I got included, "We’re too young to worry about that.", "Who wants to have to call someone every day?", and "Oh, I’ll be fine.”, and “People don’t want to be bothered."

But, in today’s world, with many people our age (young and old) without a regular schedule, living alone or working at home, not seeing the same people daily, maybe laid off from their job, it is really important to connect with someone regularly each day. This would insure that if something happened to YOU - YOU wouldn't be left in your dwelling unnoticed for days.

Consider that you may speak to many people every day, but any one of those people may not speak to you again for a week or more. That’s why it is important to have one particular person whom you call daily. Of course, there should also be a procedure agreed to for checking up when the Buddy isn't called.

What do You think? Would you like to help with this campaign?

This Week's Now Famous Person

Betty Flint

Commodore Bob Cowles is now famous because he is appearing in the "Got Mustard Campaign" He is also famous for being the past Commodore of The Detroit Boat Club. He was Commodore in 2005 and 2006. He is also the chairman of the "Mackinnac Race for Cruisers" which will take place this year for the first time. It will be the first start of the prestigious "Bayview Port Huron to Mackinac Race" but will not be part of the race. Commodor Cowles said that he will keep the PJSN up to date with information. The latest information is here . and you can reach the Commodore at Bob@Cowles.info

So when you see or contact Commodore Cowles be sure to tell him you've seen him in the "Got Mustard" campaign. You can see the other hundreds of people by clicking on the underlined words above.

So many people have volunteered to participate that we have found it necessary to change the way the slide show runs so that people can browse rather than wait to see their photo with the "digital mustard" on their upper lip. One can replace the phrase in the section box with their first name and deleting any other text in the box. Then only the slides that contain that name are displayed.

If you had your photo taken and can't find it in the slide show please send us an email. If you would like to send a photo to be included, send it to webmaster@peggyjostudio.net. We will supply the "digital mustard".

Congratulations Commodore Cowles!!

We are very saddened to hear of  Bill Churill's passing away at home. Bill had been very involved with Sailing Singles over the last years. He was our Chief Purser, organized the Feather Bowling parties, and assisted in organizing Moonlight Sails, Rendezvous, Dinners of the Month, Happy Hours, filled in as a temporary Director, and did all he could to help out in many other ways. He was always delighted to take members out on his boat, Little Sister, for a turn around Anchor Bay. He was also known in Somerset and Selective Singles. He will be greatly missed.

The Churill Family will have a memorial for Bill,

Victory Party

SAT 2009-03-21
For the third year in a row, we're doing it again. This is a chance for you to meet old friends, and make new ones, enjoy great music, dance, and have fun - all for a good cause. Those of you who came the last two years remember how much fun this is, and you felt good at the same time, knowing that all proceeds go to our American Cancer Society Relay for Life team's fund raising effort. Bring your date, or come alone and meet someone new there. start at 7:00 and end at 1:00 at Barnstormer Banquet Center (9411 E M-36, Whitmore Lake, MI). We'll have two ballrooms, with a DJ in one, and a live band in the other; it's like two great parties under one roof, and you can mingle between the two all evening long. Help us blow the top of our efforts the last two years, and buy your tickets early: $20 in advance, or $30 at-the-door so don't wait. Get your tickets on line at http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=team&fr_id=14419&team_id=400293 (click the Donate link then click on Enter an Amount equal to $20 per ticket, One Time Gift, your name (or simply Victory Party in the Recognition Name field, and finally, a note to me telling me your name, email, and number of tickets you bought. The rest is simple). Or mail your check, payable to The American Cancer Society, to PO Box158, Hamburg, MI 48139. Questions? Call Joe at 810-923-1567 Thanks. . .Joe
