  • This painting of the Last Supper includes 6 women and 2 children, as well as Christ and His 12 apostles. Most classic paintings of the Last Supper (like Leonardo DaVinci's Masterpiece) only show Christ and His 12 male apostles. But we know from scripture thai Christ's women disciples and His mother Mary had followed Him from Galilee up to Jerusalem, and the next day it was the women who were at the foot of the cross when the men ran away. This painting also shows a traditional Jewish Passover meal, with all the men wearing prayer shawls, eating with their right hands and reclining around a low table on cushions and rugs- In the front of the painting can be seen the basin and a towel from the washing of the feet- Artist: Bohdan Piasecki, from Poland- Painted in 1998 Publisher: Avoca Publishers, Ireland

At Avoca there is also a painting By Nora Kelly, of the same Scene. Click on the Avoca Publishing link below.

he Christian celebration of Easter embodies a number of converging traditions with emphasis on the relation of Easter to the Jewish festival of Passover, or Pesach, from which is derived Pasch, another name used by Europeans for Easter. Passover is an important feast in the Jewish calendar which is celebrated for 8 days and commemorates the flight and freedom of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt
The early Christians, many of whom were of Jewish origin, were brought up in the Hebrew tradition and regarded Easter as a new feature of the Passover festival, a commemoration of the advent of the Messiah as foretold by the prophets. • Speaking of Gentlemen
  • The True Gentleman by John Walter Wayland
The True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self- control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the poor man conscious of his poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or deformity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power or boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than his own; and who appears well in all company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe.

Marlene Solomon,Sailing Singles membership chairman, requests that the current members renew as soon as possible so that the roster can be printed in time for sailing season.
