Charley on TV and Radio for Tigers Opening Day

Our long winter weather will be replaced with, according to the weather forecasters, a 60 degree sunny day.

Channel 4 will feature a story about Charley at 11:00 PM on Sunday night March 30, 2014. Bernie Smilovitz will interview Charley about why he was fired last August.

Then on opening day, Monday, Charley "The Singing Hot-dog Vendor" will be on the Frank Beckman radio show (image on the right and Charley in "civvies" on the left), which is on WJR 760 AM sometime from 10:00 to 10:30. We are sure that Charley's work status will be brought up as well as the $50,000 per at bat salary of Miguel Cabrera and the Tiger's chances for a World Series.

Back in 2004 Charley was told that he could no longer sing, but due to pressure from many of the season ticket holders behind the Tiger Dugout, a deal was made that he could sing only at certain times. Charley's story was put on the United Press Ticker and newspapers throughout the United States printed his story.

He appeared on the "Good Morning America Show" on national TV and was interviewed by the BBC. For a while they were showing his picture on the Jumbotron at the ballpark during a promotion for hot-dogs.

Just before being fired his mustard was being served in the "Tiger Club". The gift shop was selling a special souvenir version of his mustard which included the Comerica Park Logo.

This would have been Charley's 16th season with the Tigers. Maybe his appearances will spur some answers into the mystery of his sudden firing just prior to the playoffs last season. Was it the Tigers or was it Major League Baseball or was it an influential fan or group of fans? Could it be a ketchup company?

Who really wielded the axe?

Nah, that doesn't bother me. But you know what does bother me? You know what makes me really sick to my stomach? It's watching you stuff your face with those hotdogs. National Day of Prayer

THU 2014-05-01

Once again we will be gathering to observe the National Day Of Prayer at Shain Park in downtown Birmingham.

The National Day of Prayer is far more than a day to gather and pray. it is truly part of a much larger prayer movement that is changing the conditions of our culture.

ndp The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress' proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.
