SEO from a searcher's viewpoint

Have you ever entered a search phrase to Google, Yahoo or Ask and were surprised that the sites presented were not really answers to your question? If so, it could be due to what is referred to as SEO , which stands for Search Engine Optimization.

People who design and implement web sites are constantly bombarded with SEO offers to sell them a service that guarantees that their web site will be placed in the top three results when other people perform a search. Google and other search engine providers continually change their search methods to get around these SEO strategies that sometimes provide false results.

Most of these strategies are based on the premise that searchers seldom scroll down the results page and usually pay attention to just the first three sites.

Our advice is to look to sites that appear further down the list and even on the next page because these are sites that are not "optimized" and are probably better matches to your search phrase.

We would like your feedback on this recommendation.

Blue Water Ski Club Meeting

Blue Water International Ski Club

Port Huron, MI & Sarnia, ONTARIO

The Blue Water International Ski Club has over a hundred members who all share a love of travel and outdoor adventure. The club plans and facilitates at least two trips every year. In the past few seasons we've skied; Vail and Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado; Moonlight Basin, Montana; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Whistler and Panorama, British Columbia; Killington, Vermont and Sugerloaf, Maine just to name a few. Because we travel as a club we enjoy reduced rates on airfare, lift tickets and condo fees, so our trips are reasonable and affordable. Every level of skier is welcome as we have members who ski the easy runs as well as those who take on the aggressive slopes. New members will find that we double as a social club with fun, interactive meetings and events such as BBQ's, golf outings and sailing get togethers planned year round. This is a great place for couples and singles to meet new people and make new friends.

Blues Heritage Series Concert
Scarab Club

SAT 2013-04-06
Saturday, April 6, 2013 2-5 pm | Tickets $5 at the door Blues Heritage Series Dan Kroha & Dave "El Bob" Morrison The Blues Heritage Series is a partnership between the Scarab Club and the Detroit Blues Society This will be an afternoon of old time gospel, blues, folk and hokum songs as performed on acoustic guitar, harmonica & vocals in a solo & duo setting, with a pair of rather cutting edge performers: Danny Kroha was born in 1965 and is a life-long resident of the City of Detroit. He holds no college degree. He started playing sousaphone at the age of nine, because his parents wouldn't let him play guitar or drums. He began playing guitar at the age of nineteen. He is self-taught. He is a founding member of the influential blues-punk band, The Gories. The band was in existence from 1986 until 1992. They released two albums and a handful of singles. Their second album was produced by Alex Chilton (The Box Tops, Big Star). They had a reunion in 2009 and 2010 with a European tour and limited U.S. dates. The band continues to do one off shows. He was also a founding member of the glam/punk/blues-y Demolition Doll Rods (1993-2006). The Doll Rods released five albums and toured the U.S. and Europe several times. They did a full U.S. tour opening for the Cramps, another opening for the Blues Explosion, and did a handful of west coast dates opening for Iggy Pop. He presently has a band called Danny & The Darleans. They play what is known as "garage rock", a style of American folk music which is blues based and is played with electric guitar, electric bass, and drums. They have an album coming out in mid-May 2013. Mr. Kroha also plays old time gospel, blues, folk and hokum songs on the acoustic guitar, harmonica, diddley-bow, dulcimer, and kazoo. He co-hosts a monthly folk/blues night at Lo & Behold records and books in Hamtramck the second Saturday of each month. Dave Morrison is 33 years old and currently lives in Hamtramck, MI. He works in Detroit. He began his pursuit in music at the age of four beginning with the violin, by eight-years-old he moved on to harmonica, then to the banjo at 15-years-old, the guitar at 16-years-old and 2 years ago he took on the piano. His influences are Howlin' Wolf, Charlie Patton, Blind Blake and, of course, Louis Armstrong. Dave's current musical projects include the Marble Fauns (folk/country), the Potions (punk blues), and Botanical Fortress (psychedelic-experimental rock). You can see Dave play every second Saturday at Lo & Behold Records and Books in Hamtramck where he co-hosts a monthly folk/blues night. Presented in collaboration by the Detroit Blues Society & the Scarab Club. www.detroitbluessociety.org/ www.scarabclub.org/
