" And this day shall become a memorial for you, and you shall observe it as a festival for the L-RD, for your generations, as an eternal decree shall you observe it. For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, but on the first day you shall remove the leaven from your homes --- you shall guard the unleavened bread, because on this very day I will take you out of the land of Egypt; you shall observe this day for your generations as an eternal decree."

Why your taxes are due today

It was April 15 last Friday-- why do we get until today to file tax returns? Because it was legal holiday on Frday in the District of Columbia -- Emancipation Day, usually celebrated on the 16th but observed on Friday when the 16th is a Saturday. When D.C. has the day off, federal tax deadlines get pushed to the next business day.
In Massachusetts and Maine, Monday is a holiday -- Patriots Day (Paul Revere's ride, and all that) -- and so folks in those states have until Tuesday the 19th to file their state (but not their federal) income tax returns. The federal IRS has a service center in Andover, Massachusetts -- presumably, it will be closed on Monday, but federal returns are still due that day.

Powerful Drivers Reshaping Health Care

Featuring Leanne Kaiser Carlson

Leanne Kaiser Carlson: Think about your cell phone as a medical device. Imagine your house or your office as a clinic. Explore a world where anything is accessible from anywhere, and healthcare is not limited by geography and organizational boundaries the way it is today.

At this luncheon, health care futurist Leanne Kaiser Carlson will:
* Describe five ways future health care delivery systems will differ from those of the present.
* Describe one example of a novel insurance arrangement directing patients to a high-quality, low-cost provider in another state.
* Define body computing and list one example of how a new technology is being used to manage care differently.

At no time has healthcare changed as dramatically as it will over the next few years. Only a part of the transformation is a result of political mandate. Stronger forces arise from how the world is changing. This is a time of chaos-but also metamorphosis.

About the Speaker

Leanne Kaiser Carlson teaches, writes, and is a futurist for the Kaiser Institute, Brighton, Colo. She has an appointment as a senior fellow of the Estes Park Institute in the areas of health futures, innovation, and wisdom cultures. Carlson directs the Kaiser Institute's Program in Philanthropy and works extensively with organizations seeking to attract new and more entrepreneurially oriented philanthropists.

The best Italian food to be found anywhere is right here in our own back yard. This place has been around 20 years, for good reason. Warm welcoming bar, dining area expanded with more of the old-style church pew booths for privacy and comfort. The best thing is the great Italian food, served fresh and hot, and that\'s a change from before. Great marinara and bolognese sauces for the bubbly baked lasagna and casalinga. Oodles of garlic for the chicken capellini trattoria, fresh vegetables and bread, etc. Very local, very homey, but top notch too. Reasonably priced wine list and friendly, attentive service. Relaxing sit-down inside for full enjoyment of what this place offers. Time 6.30 PM COST: Your Tab: RSVP Required no later than 04/20/2011. Contact Vicki Slicker 248-736-4566 vslicker@sbcglobal.net
