National Day of Prayer

Once again we will be gathering to observe the National Day Of Prayer at Shain Park in downtown Birmingham. The National Day of Prayer is far more than a day to gather and pray. it is truly part of a much larger prayer movement that is changing the conditions of our culture.

ndp The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress' proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.

BE THERE! 11:45am
From 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.. Location: Shain Park. Bates and Merrill, Birmingham, Mi.

How to manage your email

This the first of a series of five tips to make your email more productive.

Send less (and better) email

You get what you ask for. If you're sending out lots of messages, you're going to get that many back and probably more. If your not clear, you'll end up sending more messages to clarify.

Find other ways to communicate. If a quick text message, call on the phone, or Instant Message might make get your thought across quicker, use that instead. If you're dealing with a co-worker, taking a trip to their cube might be easier and more productive.

Text messaging can be cheaper than making phone calls if you subscribe on a monthly basis. You can send text messages via some email programs

Our Tenth anniversary is a few weeks off

We started publishing this newsletter every week on the Memorial Day weekend of 2003. We have grown from two pages of events to many more each week. We started with the publising events from two organizations and now we have events submitted from over 27 organizations. Our circulation back then was about 200 and we now have over 8,000.

It would be nice if the people who like getting this in their email box every Monday morning, would reccomend it to their friends and/or family.

Recommend A Friend

Anyone can sign up for this newsletter by clicking here. One does not need a recommendation. If you meet some one who would like to receive this newsletter refer them to this web address: www.peggyjostudio.net/signup.html.

However, if you know someone who might want to receive this newsletter? We will invite them for you. We can use your name if you like or we will keep it anonymous. The form is here. We will not automatically put them into the database but we will send them an invitation.

Get a Buddy, No Matter How Old You Are!

Many more people are living alone nowadays so we started this campaign some time ago but it needs a re-visit, especially this time of year. We have added some information on the upcoming proposal for implementing the "7-10 System" The link is here

Peggy Jo's Recommendation

The Dinner Shows being presented by Empire Entertainment are class events and I heartily recommend them for a complete evening of entertainment.

In the past few seasons we've skied; Vail and Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado; Moonlight Basin, Montana; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Whistler and Panorama, British Columbia; Killington, Vermont and Sugerloaf, Maine just to name a few. Because we travel as a club we enjoy reduced rates on airfare, lift tickets and condo fees, so our trips are reasonable and affordable. Every level of skier is welcome as we have members who ski the easy runs as well as those who take on the aggressive slopes. New members will find that we double as a social club with fun, interactive meetings and events such as BBQ's, golf outings and sailing get togethers planned year round. " Who knows, perhaps you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this."
Esther 4:14
Since prayer is at the bottom of all this, what I want mostly is for men to pray - not shaking angry fists at enemies but raising holy hands to God."

Water Hill Music Festival
Ann Arbor Ski Club

SUN 2013-05-05
We'll meet at the Big City Bakery to get schedules/maps and determine the route of the day. Diane Gledhill is the host for this event 734-368-5237 or diane82103@yahoo.com. http://waterhill.org/2013lineup Water Hill Music Fest is a genuine neighborhood experience, purely about neighbors sharing homemade music with passersby. You will not find a food court or beer garden, or many ways at all to spend money. So eat a good lunch, fill a water bottle and set off to explore. Festival yard signs will be planted in front yards all over the hill indicating sites where resident musicians will be performing on their own front porches or yards. Roaming volunteers will be handing out printed programs with maps. Some musicians will have set chairs on their lawns, but carrying a lightweight folding chair or camp stool might be a good idea. Driving If possible please walk, bike, or take the bus to the festival. If you need to drive, avoid the crowds by entering the neighborhood from Main Street or Newport. School parking lots west of Newport at Sunset are also generally uncrowded on weekends. Public facilities Hunt Park, at the top of Spring Street, is a nice place for a lunch or dinner picnic, and has water and public restrooms. Other restrooms will be available around the neighborhood and their locations will be noted in the program. Centrally located Belize Park, at the corner of Fountain & Summit, has a drinking fountain, play structure, shaded benches and a picnic table. Big City Bakery, at the corner of Miller and Spring, is a good source for coffee, muffins, scones, and homemade ding-dongs; on the first Sunday in May the bakery opens its bathroom to the public and stays open until 6 pm. Newly landscaped West Park, which borders Water Hill to the south across Miller Avenue, features a playground and fields, and has a parking lot off Chapin Street.
