NEW HAPPENINGS A= ROUND TOWN.
Monday in Royal Oak, the new Emagine movie theater & bowling = complex opens, which should bring some additional excitement to the city.= Hopefully  parking won't be a problem!

Also, fans of the old Fox & Hounds should be happy to hear th= at the new Fox Grill is opening Monday as well, at it's ori= ginal spot. Only problem is, it doesn't sound like they will have entertainment and dancing; but = who knows, they may surprise us.

Jennifer Marsman is a Developer Evangelist in Microsoft's Developer and Platform Evangelism group, where she educates developers on Microsoft's new technologies. Prior to becoming a Developer Evangelist, Jennifer was a software developer in Microsoft's Natural Interactive Services division. In this role, she filed two patents for her work in search and data mining algorithms. Jennifer has also held positions with Ford Motor Company, National Instruments, and Soar Technology. Jennifer earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering and Master's Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Her graduate work specialized in artificial intelligence and computational theory.

Spring Bike Trip

Whether you bike the old tow path from the Ohio & Erie Canal or hike the park's beautiful trails, you're bound to love Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The tow path is crushed limestone, so a trail or hybrid bike is recommended. There are also paved scenic paths connecting to the Cleveland Metro Parks. Hiking offers a variety of choices. One can hike to waterfalls or enjoy the scenic rock formations along "the Ledges" trail. In the spring, the Heron also nest in the park and the sight is amazing. The trip includes two nights lodging at the Holiday Inn Express in Richfield, pre-party, two breakfasts and a welcome party on Friday night. Member cost is $115 for double occupancy or $196 for single occupancy. Non-member cost is $125 for double occupancy or $206 for single occupancy. Sign-ups begin at the March 3rd AASC general meeting. There are 20 rooms reserved and sign-ups will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. Mary Pearce (figment@umich.edu) and Pat Lyons (patricelyons@comcast.net) are our trip leaders. This event is actually two separate events combined.
1.The annual Early Bird Regatta, traditionally the first DRYA race of the year and the first one that counts towards points for the season. Your DRYA membership allows you to race in the Early Bird Regatta and all sailors are welcome to sail on the special "Fund Raising Cruising Course" with or without DRYA membership.

2.The annual Great Lakes Yacht Club Leukemia Cup Regatta Fundraiser. We encourage all sailors to join this effort and contribute to this worthy cause. "Boats wishing to enter the Leukemia Cup Fund Raiser and "Sail for a Cause" should register at: http://www.leukemiacup.org/mi Remember you can raise funds for the Leukemia Society and race the Early-Bird Regatta all in the same day!
Refer to the Leukemia Cup Regatta brochure for fund raising tips soon available on-line through the DRYA web site www.drya.org

The current Detroit Regional Yacht Racing Association "A" and "C" Course Sailing Instructions are hereby adopted for this regatta with the following additions:

1.This regatta will be an ISAF Reg. 20 Category "C"? event for boats registered for the Leukemia Cup only. Advertisements for Leukemia Society sponsors only will be allowed. All other boats must adhere to Category "A" requirements.
2.Boats registered for the "Leukemia Cup Cruising Class"?, sailed on the LSSC course located approx. 1 mile East of Jefferson Beach Marina, will use sailing instructions provided specifically for that course. These sailing instructions will be available at the Great Lakes Yacht Club and at the Leukemia Cup Regatta Registration Reception at GLYC on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. They will also be available in the "sailing instructions" mail box at the GLYC gate and on the GLYC Web Site.

Screening of a documentary film chronicling the history of the early twentieth-century Polish-American immigrants and their cultural traditions - in particular, their musical traditions. It is a celebration of Polish immigrant life and culture in Detroit's east and west side communities. The Pontiac 150 Rotary Bike Ride will celebrate the 150th Sesquicentennial Anniversary of the City of Pontiac. Sponsored by Rotary Club of Pontiac, there are 5 ride selections planned. Two rides for road bikers (150 KM and 70 KM) will bike the scenic North Oakland country roads, stopping for lunch at Riverside Park. Three more relaxed, family friendly rides will tour historical and cultural points of interest including the Clinton River Trail and the West Bloomfield Trail, and will include free tours of the Oakland County Pioneer and Historical Society Museum in Pontiac, the West Bloomfield Historical Museum, and featuring free tours of the Chrysler Museum and OCC Crest Center.
