Janet Blair in Moscow The Successfully Single Club went from St. Petersburg to Moscow, Russia via the Volga River to participate in a "Dr. Zhivago Russian River Cruise". Here is a slideshow on the re-intalled Peggy Jo Studio Newsletter Blog.

We moved the blog from www.peggyjostudio.net over to www.peggyjostudio.net and added a social networking feature called BuddyPress so that people who wish can try out social networking without getting involved with FaceBook and their privacy issues. Anything that happens on the PJSN blog stays there. One does not have to participate in the social network to browse the entries on the blog. We will resume our practice of putting in depth information on the blog to keep the size of the newsletter as small as possible.

IT in The D: Listen Live
Business and Professional Event

MON 2013-07-15

Metro Detroit Information Technology networking group Detroitnet.org launches "IT in The D" internet radio show.

Detroit's Raw Radio X has added a new, two hour long show to its weekly lineup -- "IT in The D". A lively mix of discussion among the Detroitnet.org co-founders, guest segments and listener calls, "IT in The D" goes beyond the casual networking events and Pink Slip Parties that Detroitnet.org is famous for all over the metro Detroit area that have resulted in more than 500 people finding new jobs.

The authors of more than 200 articles ranging from the "Don't Be That Guy" series instructing people on what not to do to be successful at networking to "The Dating Corollary" series that draws parallels between the reader's personal and professional lives to make the concepts clear and relatable, founders Bob Waltenspiel, David Phillips and Jeff Mackey were attracted to doing an internet radio show because of its ability to interact with listeners in ways that their website and other social media presences cannot.

David Phillips noted "Since we first started running with the name a few years ago, "IT in The D" has been a number of things. We've experimented with it as a conference name, a news aggregation site, and our wildly successful event on 3/13/13 at St Andrews Hall that brought over 700 members of the metro Detroit information technology community together. It's quick, clean and easy to remember, and so using it as the name for our new internet radio show made perfect sense as a next step."

"We're very excited about this new avenue to reach, and help, people in the area," adds Bob Waltenspiel. "With more than 500 people finding new jobs from our events around the area and our speaking engagements at local colleges and through MEDC's Shifting Gears Program, it was clear to us that our message, methods and advice resonate with people and can help them move forward with their job search, their hiring practices, and of course when they're just looking to extend their professional network. We're using "IT in The D" to extend our reach and continue making things better here in the area."

"Our first two shows have launched us right out of the gate with a strong start," says Jeff Mackey. "The guests that we've had in-studio are people actually doing something solid and important for the metro Detroit IT community. Too many people weren't even aware that a hardcore security conference was taking place in downtown Detroit, or that a group started by and focused on women in the metro Detroit IT community providing hands-on training and instruction even existed. Add in a recruiter each week talking about jobs they're looking to fill and taking calls, and you have another way we help make connections and improve things for people."

The "IT in The D" show airs weekly on Monday nights from 9pm to 11pm live from the Raw Radio X studio in downtown Detroit, Michigan.

For more information, show recaps and past episodes, please visit http://www.ITinTheD.com, like the Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/ITinTheD, or follow and interact with the founders on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/ITinTheD @ITinTheD

WED. Jul. 17 Events

The Ann Arbor Art Fairs
Art Show

This event spans the period from 2013-07-17 to 2013-07-17
Wed. - Friday, 10 am to 9 pm
Saturday - 10 am to 5 pm
never on Sunday
This enticing extravaganza of art is officially divided into four events, listed below. In addition to this, every square foot of outdoor space in this area has been sold to people who did not jury into these four events. If there is something you have been hankering for, you can find it in Ann Arbor in July. People come from around the country and some shop all four days. Customers here for the first time are awed by the quantity, the quality and the creativity and vow to return next year. Come to add to your art collection, come to see the best in contemporary art, come to start your collection, you will not be disappointed.
Parking: The easiest way to avoid the traffic is to head to Briarwood Mall, on I-94, and take the shuttle to the fairs. Or, you can arrive early. There are a lot of parking structures adjacent to the exhibit areas that are full by noon (or sooner). The evenings are also a great time to shop and the nearby parking is easier to find in the downtown.
1. The Ann Arbor Street Art Fair
190 Artists On North University, near the Bell Tower
This is the original art fair that started the whole event. Established in 1959, it is highly juried - over 1000 applicants apply for the 190 spaces. The most avant garde work will be exhibited here, as well as many artists who rarely exhibit their work outdoors.
Townie Street Party on Monday night in the Street Fair area, near the Bell Tower.
For more info: www.artfair.org

2. South University Art Fair
200 Artists In the South University shopping district Held in the area where the Street Fair was originally, this event organized by the local merchants has very high standards and some outstanding artwork.

3. State Street Area Art Fair
330 Artists
This fair, coordinated by the State Street Area merchants, has been around since l963. It is located on Liberty, Thompson and surrounding areas. Often you will find newcomers to the world of art fairs exhibiting here---the stars of tomorrow!

4. Summer Art Fair
Two locations:
250 Artists on Main & Liberty
200 Artists on State Street
Organized by the The Guild, an artists organization, this show has the widest range of price levels of any of the Ann Arbor events. Uneven quality, it has some of the best in the show and some of the worst. It is easy to shop on Main Street with nearby parking and a plethora of restaurants.

Kayaking @ Kensington
Catholic Alumni Club

SAT 2013-07-20

There's nothing like being on the water on a beautiful morning - except doing it again the following month! We tried this last month in the central-northern suburbs, let's try it on the other side of town this time at Kensington Metropark! Single kayaks are $7/hr, double kayaks are $8/hr. If you are new to kayaking, we'll teach you how to do it. And don't worry, these kayaks don't trap you if you tip over. And besides, we're friends - we'll be laughing with you, not at you! Plan to take about two hours to go around the lake. Bring a sack lunch, your sunscreen, a swim suit, towel, and a change of clothes (just in case). The deposit is $20 but you'll get the balance back upon return. Rendezvous in the Boat Rental parking lot on the West side of the lake, about in the middle of the shoreline-see the map link below. (Note: this is NOT the Boat Launch parking lots.) Park entrance fee is $5 per car unless you have a season pass sticker. Please RSVP so I can watch for you. Visit http://www.metroparks.com to see map.

MSDA Monthly Dance
Michigan Swing Dance Association

SUN 2013-07-21
Every month, the MSDA holds a kick-ass dance, usually on the third Sunday. Our dance is held at the gorgeous Rhythm -n- Shoes Ballroom Dance Studio in Bloomfield Hills. There are lessons at 3 PM and a dance party from 4 to 8 PM. The music is California Mix with East and West Coast Swing, Hustle, Ballroom, Latin and Country and our DJ, Phil Dorroll, takes requests. We throw in a Speed Dating Dance and a Newcomer Mixer just to change things up a bit. A light meal is served, as well as snacks, soft drinks and cake, plus we give away door prizes to people whose tickets are drawn.

For members, the dance is $9 and the lesson is free. For non-members, the lesson is $4 and the dance is $11. If you join the club at the dance, you save $6. .

The MSDA dances are attended by couple and singles alike. For the most part, our members are single and we are always happy to see new members join. The MSDA is like a big, friendly family and we are very comfortable asking each other to dance. In other words, men ask women and women ask men. That's our format. Rounding Third by Richard Dresser

directed by Nathan Corliss

Cost $10 suggested donation

In a small town, coaching little league is no walk in the park. Michael joins on as assistant coach to Don, who's been coaching baseball for years, and whose philosophy is simple: Win. Don's son is the star pitcher on the team, while Michael's son, like Michael himself, is new in town and very inexperienced in baseball. The two coaches struggle to employ their differing philosophies on winning the game and enjoying the game. Can the two philosophies coexist? And what changes when the men's personal lives are drawn into the game?

Then afterward we can walk down to the Washtenaw Dairy for some ICE CREAMMMM :) . Washtenaw Dairy, 602 S. Ashley St., Ann Arbor, MI 48103 Diane Gledhill is the host for this event 734-368-5237 or diane82103@yahoo.com.

Ty Stone - Anywhere's Better (Official Video)

If one of the marks of a great performer is the ability to combine the ordinary and the extraordinary, then Ty Stone--a powerhouse singer in an unprettified package--is as true an entertainer as they come. "With me, it's a matter of combining the everyday with having this chainsaw for a voice," he laughs. "I'm not this pre-packaged, square-jawed, good-looking, 6-foot-4 kid. People relate to me most as the dude they hung out with in school, and I feel like my size gives me more of an everyman quality." But, of course, not every man can wail like--- that. "My voice is really about constant intensity," he notes, "whether the pedal is down, and I'm hitting monster notes, or I'm in low gear, and I'm being sweet and thoughtful with every breath.

Did You Know---

That nearly 52 million hours of school are lost each year due to child related dental illness?

Help Us Help Our Active Military!

Our Military Families, School Districts, & Communities inside and outside of the Tri-County area are reaching out to the Children's ToothFairy Foundation for our basic, emergency, preventative and comprehensive dental care service and oral health education for the children of active military men and women.

Children Are No Longer Hurting

The Children's ToothFairy Foundation has provided education and much needed dental care to more than 1000 children within the last 12 months!

The need & requests has grown for oral health care, screenings & dental care for more than 60% of the Children who are on reduced & free breakfast & lunch programs in the Southfield school district alone. Our military who serve us, are asking the CTFF to serve the children of our active military because many active servicemen and women don't have dental benefits so neither do their children.

How We Operate

Our organization is unique in that it provides a bridge to direct medical care in the way of dental services, a safety net in the way of a funding source, and a future by educating each child. Because of our organization, parents don't have to choose between food, rent, gasoline and dental care. Once a child becomes a CTFF referral, a toothache is no longer something that has to be ignored or improperly medicated. And by educating children and their parents on the importance of oral health care, our message is one that is taken into an entire family structure with the child as the messenger. In the final analysis, Children's ToothFairy Foundation is an organization that funds dental care, oral health and education.

ABOUT THE PLAY: "Waiting for Godot" is an absurdist play by Samuel Beckett, in which two characters, Vladimir and Estragon, wait endlessly and in vain for the arrival of someone named Godot. Godot's absence, as well as numerous other aspects of the play, have led to many different interpretations since the play's premiere, 1940ish. It was voted "the most significant English language play of the 20th century."
