We moved the blog from www.peggyjostudio.net over to www.peggyjostudio.net and added a social networking feature called BuddyPress so that people who wish can try out social networking without getting involved with FaceBook and their privacy issues. Anything that happens on the PJSN blog stays there. One does not have to participate in the social network to browse the entries on the blog. We will resume our practice of putting in-depth information on the blog to keep the size of the newsletter as small as possible.

Sing-A-Long The Sound of Music
Ann Arbor Ski Club

TUE 2013-08-06

There is no host for this event just offering it as a fun thing to do on a Tuesday night.

With onscreen lyrics, goodie bags, a costume parade, and more! Part of the Summer Classic Film Series.

One of the most popular movie musicals of all time, The Sound of Music is based on the true story of the Trapp Family Singers. Julie Andrews stars as Maria, a young nun in an Austrian convent who regularly misses her morning prayers because she enjoys going to the hills to sing the title song. Deciding that Maria needs to learn something about the real world before she can take her vows, the Mother Superior (Peggy Wood) sends her off to be governess for the children of the widowed Captain Von Trapp (Christopher Plummer). Arriving at the Trapp home, Maria discovers that her new boss is cold and aloof, and his 7 children virtual automatons-at least, whenever the Captain is around. Otherwise, the kids are holy terrors, as evidenced by the fact that Maria is the latest in a long line of governesses. But Maria soon ingratiates herself with the children, especially oldest daughter Liesl (Charmian Carr), who is in love with teenaged messenger boy Rolf. As Maria herself begins to fall in love with the Captain, she rushes back to the Abbey so as not to complicate his impending marriage to a glamorous baroness (Eleanor Parker). But the children insist that Maria return, the Baroness steps out of the picture, and Maria and the Captain confirm their love in the song "Something Good." Unhappily, they return home from their honeymoon shortly after the Nazis march into Austria. Already, swastikas have been hung on the Von Trapp ancestral home, and Liesl's boyfriend Rolf has been indoctrinated in the "glories" of the Third Reich. The biggest blow occurs when Von Trapp is called back to active duty in the service of the Fuhrer. The Captain wants nothing to do with Nazism, and he begins making plans to take himself and his family out of Austria. Hal Erickson, Rovi 1965. 174 minutes. Rated G.

Blue Water International Ski Club

Port Huron, MI & Sarnia, ONTARIO

The Blue Water International Ski Club has over a hundred members who all share a love of travel and outdoor adventure. The club plans and facilitates at least two trips every year. In the past few seasons we've skied; Vail and Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado; Moonlight Basin, Montana; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Whistler and Panorama, British Columbia; Killington, Vermont and Sugerloaf, Maine just to name a few. Because we travel as a club we enjoy reduced rates on airfare, lift tickets and condo fees, so our trips are reasonable and affordable. Every level of skier is welcome as we have members who ski the easy runs as well as those who take on the aggressive slopes. New members will find that we double as a social club with fun, interactive meetings and events such as BBQ's, golf outings and sailing get togethers planned year round. Ty Stone - Anywhere's Better (Official Video)

If one of the marks of a great performer is the ability to combine the ordinary and the extraordinary, then Ty Stone--a powerhouse singer in an unprettified package--is as true an entertainer as they come. "With me, it's a matter of combining the everyday with having this chainsaw for a voice," he laughs. "I'm not this pre-packaged, square-jawed, good-looking, 6-foot-4 kid. People relate to me most as the dude they hung out with in school, and I feel like my size gives me more of an everyman quality." But, of course, not every man can wail like--- that. "My voice is really about constant intensity," he notes, "whether the pedal is down, and I'm hitting monster notes, or I'm in low gear, and I'm being sweet and thoughtful with every breath.

Big Ray

Big Ray and the Motor City Kings are a Detroit Area musical group performing blues, classic rock, soul and Motown.

The act offers an energetic and danceable repertoire supported by guitar, keyboard and saxophone soloists. They perform at a variety of venues ranging from small blues clubs to large festival stages.

And many, many more musical artists---

Did You Know---

That nearly 52 million hours of school are lost each year due to child related dental illness?

Help Us Help Our Active Military!

Our Military Families, School Districts, & Communities inside and outside of the Tri-County area are reaching out to the Children's ToothFairy Foundation for our basic, emergency, preventative and comprehensive dental care service and oral health education for the children of active military men and women.

Children Are No Longer Hurting

The Children's ToothFairy Foundation has provided education and much needed dental care to more than 1000 children within the last 12 months!

The need & requests has grown for oral health care, screenings & dental care for more than 60% of the Children who are on reduced & free breakfast & lunch programs in the Southfield school district alone. Our military who serve us, are asking the CTFF to serve the children of our active military because many active servicemen and women don't have dental benefits so neither do their children.

How We Operate

Our organization is unique in that it provides a bridge to direct medical care in the way of dental services, a safety net in the way of a funding source, and a future by educating each child. Because of our organization, parents don't have to choose between food, rent, gasoline and dental care. Once a child becomes a CTFF referral, a toothache is no longer something that has to be ignored or improperly medicated. And by educating children and their parents on the importance of oral health care, our message is one that is taken into an entire family structure with the child as the messenger. In the final analysis, Children's ToothFairy Foundation is an organization that funds dental care, oral health and education.

CACD Picnic
Catholic Alumni Club

SUN 2013-08-11
A "SPECIAL" PICNIC

Join us for a special picnic. Why is it special? Two reasons: Because it is in August and we don't normally have a picnic in August. And why not have a picnic in August! Picnic is summertime fun and August is summertime.

Second reason it is special - it is at a new location. Our picnic fun will be at Nelson Park in Sterling Heights on 15 Mile Rd. between Ryan and Dequindre. We have a picnic shelter so the picnic can go on rain or shine (but it wouldn't dare rain on our picnic).

Come at noon. Lunch will be served around 1:00. Lunch will be ham and turkey with salads, desserts, pop and munchies. So bring your appetite (as we are usually munching all the time on something), sunscreen, caps and be ready to eat, socialize and play as there is lots of space for games. A picnic is a great chance to mill around, mingle, and get to know members.

Bring a friend. Cost is $8 for members and $10 for guests. There is no park entry fee. RSVP's are necessary so we know how much food to purchase. Please make your check payable to CACD and mail to the address in SPARKS or call 313-882-0990.
