For a Healthy Brain

Keeping our brains healthy and sharp as we age is a top priority. But products we use or come in contact with on a regular basis could damage our brains cell by cell until we eventually slip into the shadows of dementia.

Avoid further injury to your brain by steering clear of these known brain toxins. (See my newsletter "Maintaining Your Memory" for additional information on how to keep your memory sharp.):

Aluminum. Avoid all aluminum-containing foods (processed cheeses, teas with lemon, pancakes, biscuits and all foods using baking powder), cookware, medications, vaccinations, and topical ointments. Do not eat foods high in aluminum when eating or drinking citrus-containing foods and drinks (orange juice, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, etc).

MSG. It is critical that you eliminate foods from your diet that contain excitotoxins such as monosodium glutamate (MSG). It hides under these names: hydrolyzed protein, soy protein, whey protein extract, natural flavoring, textured protein, and soy extract. To do this you must avoid processed foods. If you cant avoid processed foods, check labels for these disguised names.

Pesticides. Don't use pesticides and herbicides, especially within the home. A considerable amount of evidence links these toxins to increased risk of Alzheimers dementia and especially Parkinsons disease. Startling evidence shows that combining pesticides and herbicides greatly increases their toxicity to the brain, and in sensitive individuals even minute concentrations can result in advanced and very rapid onset Parkinsons disease. Instead of pesticides, choose natural pest-control methods.

Vaccinations. Shun vaccinations, especially the flu vaccine. With the growing threat of bioterrorism, public health organizations will be offering a whole host of new vaccines. I would avoid them all. In newsletters, I have outlined ways to effectively combat bioterrorism and daily infections without vaccinations.

Fluoride. Fluoride is a powerful brain toxin, especially when combined with aluminum. You should avoid fluoridated water, fluoride toothpaste, and mouthwashes that contain fluoride. Many natural fluoride-free brands are available. My special report "Why Fluoride is Toxic"will give you all the details.

Mercury. Do not let your dentist fill your teeth with mercury-containing amalgam (looks like metal) or in any way manipulate your fillings (teeth cleaning, etc). If you have amalgam fillings, have them removed by a dentist trained in proper removal procedure. The International Association of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) trains physicians in this procedure and can give you the name of a trained dentist near you.

Strenuous exercise. You should exercise your body regularly, but do not engage in aerobics. They dramatically increase free-radical generation that can lead to numerous diseases including neurodegenerative disorders. Several studies have shown moderate exercise to be protective against Alzheimers dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases.

By following these steps, even if you have a strong family history of dementia, your risk will be greatly reduced. Find more details on how you can use natural gifts of nature to keep your brain sharp by reading my report "Save Your Brain."

Emails from our readers

Dear Peggy Jo,

I have never met you but I have seen you at many events and I enjoy getting your newsletter every week. I am a 51 year old newly single women. I don't consider myself unattractive . I need your advice.

Recently I attended a very large singles party at a very nice hall. I got there early to save chairs for some friends who were going to meet me there. The group conducted an ice-breaker . I declined to participate. A young man approached me and I told him that I was not participating in the mixer. He was polite and personable and he asked if he could sit down and I told him it was ok. He was a very good conversationalist and we we got along fine.

When my friends started arriving I stood up to hug and greet them. My new acquaintance also stood up and introduced himself to my friends. He continued to spend his time talking exclusively to me even though he knew my friends were there. A couple times I excused myself to go to the ladies room but each time I returned he was still there.

My dilemma is how does one end a conversation politely but firmly. I did not want to spend my evening talking to him and I found out later that my friends thought I had a date. How would you handle a situation like this?

A.

Dear A,

You should have said It was nice meeting you but I would like to spend some time with my friends now, so excuse me.

Peggy Jo

Dear Peggy Jo,
I just wanted to give you a "heads up" on the GM Ski Club Walleyball Sundays. They are not organizing games or playing during the warm months. They will resume, as their tradition has it, sometime in October or November.

Peggy Jo's calendar is an "events bible" for those of us who look for pleasant and inviting things to do and where to meet new friends. I look forward to your weekly email updates, and your accuracy is something all of us value.

As a long-time member and Vice President of the GM Ski Club, I'm requesting that you remove the Walleyball Sundays from your calendar until the games resume in the fall.

All of us at the GM Ski Club are thrilled that you help promote our club events, but we don't want anyone to be disappointed or angry if they should show up at an event where there is nobody there. I'm sure you agree and know of the consequences if somebody were to question the accuracy of Peggy Jo's Studio for passing out-of-date info on events and activities.

We would be very happy if you would replace the absent Walleyball event with our upcoming GM Ski Club Picnic for August 14, 2010. Sound good?

I've enclosed the info below for your convenience. We've had much growth in the last year, lots of new folks, and I'm sure your readers would appreciate hearing about it. --- and one of these days, I really must attend one of Gayle's pool parties. Thanks for your assistance with this matter. This would be an enjoyable event for you to attend as well, hope to see ya there

Ciao!
Brian

Our June event had 70 people and we hope to repeat that at this event on the 29th. August Tempus Business and Charitable Networking Events coming together for local charities from support of local business owners across Metro Detroit We will also be having a silent auction too. Every penny helps for this amazing charity. August Tempus Business and Charitable Networking Events coming together for local charities from support of local business owners across Metro Detroit Our Charity for August is CoDA the Coalition for Dwarf Advocacy.

CoDA- The Coalition for Dwarf Advocacy (CoDA) was formed in late 2006 to: *Advocate for the full rights and benefits of individuals with short stature (dwarfs), and their families within the public and private sectors of society. Since dwarfs are so rare (1 in 40,000), most people don\'t know much about us and CoDA\'s purpose is to promote social awareness of dwarfs. It is well known within the disabled community and among affected individuals that a great deal of work needs to be done to ensure that dwarfs have equal opportunity and acceptance in all aspects of society. Along with social awareness, CoDA is developing programs to help dwarfs financially with different aspects of life. From health care, with chronic problems associated with dwarfism, to adoption, where dwarfs are considered social outcasts in some countries and need to be put in loving homes, to accessibility, where some dwarfs can\'t reach a public toilet or ATM.

This event is open to all business networkers. So invite anyone that you feel that would benefit from this event making a positive difference in not only your business, but your community as well.
