Wrist Radios are here

The new wrist devices won’t replace smartphones, but rather connect to them. Most will continue the basic task of telling the time, while eliminating the need to dig a smartphone out of your pocket or purse. But they will provide far more information than the most advanced G-Shock watch available today, or the most expensive chronometer.

For example, Sony this year released the Smartwatch, a two-inch-square screen that can display e-mails, Twitter posts and other pieces of text, all pulled from an Android smartphone. Nike FuelBand, a black band with an array of colored lights, measures the energy you exert on a daily basis and sends it to a smartphone. (It also tells the time.) Jawbone sells the Up, a unisex bracelet that tracks a user’s daily activity and sends the information to an iPhone application. Pebble, an innovative watch that can play music and display text, the weather and other information from a phone, caught the public’s imagination on Kickstarter, where it raised $10.3 million. It is expected to arrive next year.

The cellphone is becoming the most important item to carry and is the device people will return home to retreive if they left without it. More people will be getting their news and information from these smart devices. That is why we have placed a copy of this weekly newsletter on pjnews.mobi. [note: on your cellphone, you do not use the www. prefix. Just enter pjnews.mobi ] In addition you can click on upcoming events to get events happening " right now".

Downtown Networking event
Business and Professional Event

TUE 2012-08-28
We're a group of Detroit Economic Club members who are trying to get together a regular (on the last Tuesday of every month) networking event at the Sky Bar at 1150 Griswold in downtown Detroit. We need people to show up! Right now no web site is set up or admission charged but that could change in the future. We just want to get something started in Downtown Detroit on a regular basis that is a "networking event". If you can show up at the next meeting please do so. But also remember that we are in the beginning stages of the process and things may be a little rough at first. But the bar manager knows who we are and what's going on so show up and let's network! See you at the Sky Bar at the next networking event! Thanks.

Crocker House Museum Trip

SUN 2012-09-02
Crocker House Museum The first mayor of Mount Clemens, Joshua Dickinson, built this Italianate house in 1869. Crocker, a former prosecuting attorney and justice of the peace, became mayor upon Dickinson's death. Mount Clemens was known as the great health and pleasure resort of Michigan. People from all over the world and from all walks of life came to Mount Clemens for the healing powers of mineral baths. A visit will take you back in time to when the Crocker family lived in the home and also offer a glimpse into Mount Clemens' famous Mineral Bath era.
