Why did it happen when it did?

What is your opinion?

Do you love him or do you love to Hate him????

Since Friday September 6, 2013, Charley has been getting a lot of press coverage. His story has been on the front page of both the Free Press and the News. There is an article in the Huffington Post putting forth the idea that Charley was fired for his stance on ketchup. The Wall Street Journal has contacted him. He has appeared on Fox2 where he was interviewd by M.L. Elrick, Fox 2 News Investigative Reporter, who was once a vendor at Comerica Park and a colleague of Charley. Frank Beckman had him on his radio show and Mitch Albom also interviewd him and even presented the "Dirty Harry" clip of Clint Eastwood's comments on hotdogs and ketchup.

Mustard

Even the people in Chicago believe that the Tigers should embrace Charley as an asset. Another comment comes from Peter Robbins-Brown.

All of the press is sympathetic toward Charley but none have delved into the why and why now. What event precipitated the firing-- he has been doing the same thing for fifteen years. What was new?

Back in 2004 he was silenced but that happened in the early part of the season and the Tigers were not drawing the crowds that they do now. Many fans, including season ticket holders, rallied to Charley's assistance and management relented with some restrictions on his activities.

The Tiger's gift shop started selling his mustard and it was offered in the Tiger Club. In the photo, notice that the souvenir botttle bears the Comerica Park logo. The bottle was only sold at Comerica Park.

Is it Over???

Charley fired after 15 years of selling hot dogs at the Tiger's games.

BBC= Bring Back Charley

Save Charley! We're really sad to hear the Tigers fired him. The ballgames just won't be as much fun without him. Let's try to get him back. Here are a bunch of contacts to make:

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 18TH 6:30 PM GENERAL MEETING AND DINNER

Join your current Board of Directors for dinner at Jimi's Restaurant in Royal Oak to discuss our upcoming elections and the future of the CACD club in 2014. Over a relaxed dinner we will be inspired by a local speaker, Melanie Bruss. She will talk about the role of religious vocations within the Church, vocation discernment, and share her own vocation story. You can leave your checkbooks at home, but she will distribute material and make a funding appeal for the Labouré Society, which is helping her to raise money to respond to God's call to join the Mission Helpers of the Holy Savior, in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. After the talk, we will discuss CACD nominations for next year's Board and conduct any general business the membership brings forward. Jimi's restaurant is at 714 S. Washington Ave., Royal Oak, MI 48067, between Lincoln (10 1/2 Mile) and 7th Street (one block from St. Mary's church) 248-548- 9377. IT in The D PINK SLIP PARTY: Networking Event for Metro Detroit IT Industry Professionals and Job Se
Business and Professional Event

THU 2013-09-19

Our next Pink Slip Party is going to be Thursday, 9/19/13

.

After our ridiculously over the top event on 3/13/13, we're hoping lightning strikes twice.

Not familiar with what we did on 3/13/13? You can read our recap here and someone else's over here

So, we're heading back downtown. And we're going to take over St Andrews Hall starting at 5pm.

And yes, we would love to have a few companies step up and sponsor the event. Interested? Drop us a note: http://www.detroitnet.org/index.php/contact-us/

These are bigger and more organized than our smaller, more casual events and tend to have 50+ recruiters, HR folks and hiring managers in attendance with more than 400 attendees showing up. Our 3/13/13 event peaked at over 700 attendees, with more than 100 people looking to hire.

Note: These are not job fairs. Bring a few copies of your resume, but don't feel the need to bring 500. You'll register when you arrive, and the gathered information will be forwarded to all recruiters in attendance. Or, if you email us with your resume ahead of time, we'll make sure that the recruiters attending will have already received it before the event. You are also more than welcome to send us your resume at any time between events, and we will get them distributed.

If you're a recruiter that would like to attend, please email us at detroitnet@gmail.com. There are no costs or anything for you to attend -- we just want to make sure we have a badge waiting for you when you get there. People looking for jobs are going to be there, which means you're going to want to be there.

Hope you can make it!

Curious about parking? Here's everything you'd ever want to know: http://en.parkopedia.com/parking/attraction/st-andrews-hall-detroit/

Attendees are being asked to pre-register by sending an email to detroitnet@gmail.com with your resume as an attachment. ---and don't forget to read the Frequently Asked Questions: http://www.detroitnet.org/index.php/our-events/faq

Want to see what our events are like? Check out some pics from previous Pink Slip Party events or our casual networking events.
