  • Support Charley on Tues 9/28/2004
  • Charley Marcuse The Singing Hot Dog Man of Comerica Park has been silenced by the Detroit Tigers since May 18 of this year. He has been rendering his operatic version of Hooot Daaaawg since the The Three Tenors appeared at Tiger Stadium. At first the Tigers said that the fans complained about his singing but later in an article in Sports Illustrated Cliff Russell a public relations official for the Tigers stated that the fans really like his singing.

Charley was invited to Sing an Sell hot Dogs two of the Tigers minor league affiliates. He was at The Toledo Mud Hens park and The Western Michigan White Caps park this summer. Fourty- eight papers throughout the US carried the Associated Press story of Charley going to the minors. He appeared on the Good Morning AmericaShow and also on ESPN. He was even interviewed by the BBC and has appeared on televison in Japan.

But still the Tigers have him muzzeled for all but 15 seconds when he is given a microphone and allowed to belt out his meaty aria . His picture appears on the Jumbotron on the centerfield. This all done as part of the Ball Park Franks Hot Dog row promotion.

Since Charley has not been allowed to sing, his revenue is down about $1500.00 from last year.
