Blue Water International Ski Club

Port Huron, MI & Sarnia, ONTARIO

The Blue Water International Ski Club has over a hundred members who all share a love of travel and outdoor adventure. The club plans and facilitates at least two trips every year. In the past few seasons we've skied; Vail and Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado; Moonlight Basin, Montana; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Whistler and Panorama, British Columbia; Killington, Vermont and Sugerloaf, Maine just to name a few. Because we travel as a club we enjoy reduced rates on airfare, lift tickets and condo fees, so our trips are reasonable and affordable. Every level of skier is welcome as we have members who ski the easy runs as well as those who take on the aggressive slopes. New members will find that we double as a social club with fun, interactive meetings and events such as BBQ's, golf outings and sailing get togethers planned year round. Manhattan Short Film Festival
Ann Arbor Ski Club

THU 2014-10-02

Diane Gledhill is the host for this event 734-368-5237 or diane82103@yahoo.com. I'll get there early, but call or text to sit together. Then afterward we'll wander down the street to an establishment of choice to discuss the films.

An extraordinary global event will take place the week of September 26-October 5, when over 100,000 people in over 300 cities across six continents gather in cinemas, galleries, universities, museums and cafes for one purpose…to view and vote on the Finalists' Films in the Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival.

Manhattan Short Film Festival is not a touring Festival; rather, it is a celebration that occurs simultaneously across the globe, bringing great films to great venues and allowing the audiences to select their favorites. If the Film Festival experience truly is about getting great works in front of as many eyes as possible, Manhattan Short Film Festival offers the ultimate platform — one that sees its films screened in Sydney, Mumbai, Moscow, Vienna, Cape Town and beyond.

Our partnering cinemas are situated in Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe, South America and North America, including venues in all 50 States of the United States. Manhattan Short Film Festival is the first film festival to ever take place in all 50 States of the USA. Learn more at msfilmfest.com.

Ghoultide Gathering
Ann Arbor Ski Club

SAT 2014-10-04

Join me for this Halloween Art Fair. Diane Gledhill is the host for this event 734-368-5237 or diane82103@yahoo.com.

The sparks of creative energy ignite shoppers like a quickly spreading wildfire at the magical bazaar for original Halloween art known as Ghoultide Gathering. This is the 8th year for the event, which has proven to be a phenomenon for artists and customers alike. It is almost as if there is too much imagination in one space. Given the common theme, it's thrilling to witness the vision of three dozen artists as they present their interpretations of All Hallow's Eve.

The artisans generally give a nod to the past with their storytelling or choice of medium. Thoughtful displays are filled with everything from spine-tingling sculptures to characters from childhood. Monsters, witches and skeletons mingle with art dolls, toys, and pumpkin-headed folk. The result is a distinctive, eclectic show where everyone enjoys sharing their passion for the season.

USPS Seamanship Course
Birmingham Power Squadron

WED 2014-10-22
The Seamanship 2012 course is the next step after completing America's Boating Course, 3rd Edition (ABC3), taking the knowledge and skills learned there and expanding and extending them with this newly updated edition. Or make Seamanship the first step into building boating confidence and competence for safe and fun on-the-water adventures. Seamanship 2012 presents material applicable to both power and sail, covering such topics as the construction and functioning of a boat, the skipper's responsibilities, preparing the boat for use, handling and maneuvering a vessel under various conditions in close quarters and on the open water, rules of the road, anchoring, emergencies, and marlinspike/basic knots. The Appendices cover boating into the waters of Canada and Mexico, the effects of weather on the boater's health, and general information on obtaining a US Coast Guard captain's license. It is suggested that Seamanship be scheduled over nine two-hour class sessions, one session for each chapter and one session for the proctored test. The Student Manual 2012 Kit includes the text, a knot practice board, and the One Minute Guide to the Nautical Rules of the Road by Charlie Wing.
