Do you remember---

when you were this age and played with a radio controlled racing car? This child will grow up thinking that device controlers and computers were always in existence. We are living in an age of transition where things change on a daily basis.

Dear Friends of Susan Tabar,

Susan has always put a smile on our faces and has helped many of us. She now is in the fight of her life and needs our prayers and support.

Susan was recently diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer and will have to endure very expensive, experimental and painful chemo and bone marrow transplant initially. There are only a few oncologists in the country who have significant knowledge on this type of cancer, unfortunately. She is a Juvenile Diabetic so, no matter what she goes through will be more difficult to manage due to her chronic disease and other chronic health problems that she suffers from. Susan has been there for so many throughout the course of her life.

A Trust Fund has been set up in her name at Bank of America. Let us show her how much she has been appreciated and loved and pay it forward to her now while she fights to save her life.

susan Tabar Please share this page with others, as Susan knows many people and we are trying to help her.

Thank you for your consideration and kindness during this very critical time in dear Susan's life.

Any donations big or small, would be appreciated. Thank you.for your consideration.

You can make a donation online at www.thembng.com/tabarfund , or by mail to G1NBC c/o Susan Tabar P.O. Box 893, Hamburg Michigan, 48139

Sincerely,
Friends of Susan Tabar

Emails from our readers:

Last summer I had three black Locust trees in my yard cut down. I asked the contractor to cut up save a lot of it so I could use it as firewood for backyard fires. Unfortunately, this kind of wood does not flame up and is useless as a fireplace type of firewood. However, it is a hard wood that burns very hot and very long and is great for a wood burning stove or any other kind of home heating wood. Just don’t look for flame beauty. Beyond that, feel to do your own research.

I have what may amounts to a chord and a half I’d love to get rid of. About (10’ x 5’) spread. Most of this has already been split and has been drying for a year and a half.

This wood is made available to a first come first pickup all I have basis. I’d prefer to get rid of it all in one fell swoop. Throwing it away in the Sterling Heights Garbage pickup remains an option, but I prefer to give it to someone who can use it.

If you think you can use it and are agreeable to take the entire load, please contact me and we’ll arrange a pickup time. You’ll need your own pickup truck. I live hear 18 & Ryan in Sterling Heights.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

-Darrell.

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd share the good news with you on my latest award with the Detroit Society of Women Painters Exhibit at the Padzieski Gallery at the Ford College Center for Performing Arts in Dearborn. These are the top women painters int he state and not only are these women juried to get into the group, but each exhibit is also juried. There were approximately 140 entries juried down to about half of that to accomodate the limited space, so some very good work was juried out of the show. Anyway, I took FIRST PLACE and actually won a money award. The judge was the famous Joseph T. Banks, curator of the Berkowitz Gallery at the University of Michigan. We celebrated with a wine reception on Friday night. The exhibit runs through November 9.

My painting, titled "Out of Africa" is an acrylic collage and not my usual watercolor. It appears to be abstract at first glance, but is actually a shack or poor excuse of a house found in East London, Africa. I can't believe that humans can live in these conditions with no electric and no water. They find garbage to hook together to keep the sun off of them. These so called houses are only inches apart, so you can imagine how private it must be. I loved the abstract shapes and various textures in the house, so tried to show that by adding the corrugated cardboard and then hand wove the fencing. It was a little tricky getting everything to work, but worth it.

Also, my painting "Sunkissed in Toudi" is published in the new "The Artistic Touch 5" out this month at Barnes & Noble's, pg. 48. My work was also published in "The Artistic Touch 3 and 4" as well as previously in "The Best of Watercolor 2" and "The Best of Painting Compositions" and "The Folio".

Hope you appreciate the painting for what it was intended.

Shirl

Veterans Day At Lambeau Field

LAMBEAU FIELD Those who attended the game said it was extremely emotional to see the entire bowl of the stadium turn red, white and blue. It took 90 workers two weeks to get all of the colored card boards mounted under each seat. Each piece of card board had eye slits in them so the fans could hold up the colored sheet and still see through the eye slits. Every seat had to have the proper card, with no mistakes, to make this happen.
