Halloween Candy Warning

With Halloween fast approaching comes a warning to parents and kids regarding Sherwood brand Pirate's Gold milk chocolate coins imported from China .

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to eat, distribute or sell the candy.

It is sold across Canada by Costco and may also have been sold in bulk packages or as individual pieces at various dollar and bulk stores.

The chocolate contains melamine
which is the same chemical responsible for killing several babies in China , and sickening thousands more.

Hunters at risk for heart attack

For the thousands who'll take to the woods for firearms deer hunting season, there is a hidden risk...the risk of heart attack.

The excitement of spotting a deer, combined with strenuous activity and heart-disease risk factors, could place deer hunters at an increased risk for having a heart attack.

Beaumont hospital was the first to conduct a study on the risk of heart attack from deer hunting. Researchers sent 25 hunters into the woods equipped with heart rate monitors. The results determined that just the site of a deer could cause a hunter's heart rate to soar to the peak heart rate achieved during cardiac stress testing.

"The heart rate of some hunters would almost double upon seeing a deer, even though they were standing totally still," says Beaumont exercise physiologist and researcher Susan Haapaniemi.

After seeing the deer, shooting, gutting and dragging a deer out of the woods pushed hunter's heart rates well above the maximum, says Haapaniemi.

"Exceeding the maximum heart rate for a sustained period of time places a hunter with hidden or known heart disease at a high risk for heart attack," Haapaniemi says. "The hunters were often unaware of what was happening to their hearts during these activities."

Cooler weather, bulky hunting equipment, rugged terrain and a hunter's personal lifestyle (smoking, drinking, fitness level) are other factors accentuating the cardiac risks.

Tips for healthy hunting: * Don't drink or smoke the day before or during hunting.
* Don't eat a heavy meal before hunting.
* Spend time prior to hunting raising fitness level by walking or aerobic exercise.
* People with heart disease should not drag a deer
* Those with high blood pressure, high cholesterol or other risk factors should consult a doctor before hunting. Seek medical help if heart attack warning signs come on while hunting (dizziness, chest pain, heart palpitations).

This Weeks Now Famous Person

Mark the ManMark Wilson is now famous because he is appearing in the "Got Mustard Campaign" . however, he was allready famous because he is "The Man" in the Sports Radio Show entitled "Rob Parker and the Man" In the photo on the right are Mark Wilson and Rob Parker celebrating their seventh anniversary on the show. So when you see or contact him be sure to tell him you've seen him in the "Got Mustard" campaign. You can see the other 550 plus people by clicking on the underlined words above.

There are over 550 people who have volunteered to participate and we have found it necessary to change the way the slide show runs so that people can browse rather than wait to see their photo with the "digital mustard" on their upper lip. One can replace the phrase in the section box with their first name and deleting any other text in the box. Then only the slides that contain that name are displayed.

If you had your photo taken and can't find it in the slide show please send us an email. If you would like to send a photo to be included, send it to webmaster@peggyjostudio.net. We will supply the "digital mustard".

Congratulations Mark Wilson

Christmas Gala - Sailing Singles

SAT 2008-12-06

Don't miss the elegant Christmas gala of the season.

Our round tables will overlook the grounds through the bow windows, entertaining us with twinkle lights. Elaborately decorated Christmas Trees will don the room to compliment our round tables with linens and centerpieces to match.

Our evening will begin with hors devours of international and domestic cheeses and fruits with a cash bar available for those who wish to imbibe.

Come dinner time, we will be served at our tables with a handsome meal beginning with salad and ending with a decadent dessert, and an entree consisting of both beef tenderloin and chicken.

After dinner, we will be entertained both for our listening and dancing pleasure by the renounced Barbara Ware, who really knows how to caress a lyric, and the Cliff Monear Trio. This is a group that has performed for many major events within and outside of Michigan. They are well-known for their musical talents, selling many CD's, and we are so, so fortunate that they have agreed to perform at our party.
