Election Day Tues Nov 8, 2005

In an appearance at the Five O'clock Forum some years ago James H. Brickley former Lieutenant Governor of Michigan and Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court made the following observations: (We are writing from memory and this is not verbatim)
Politicians affect our lives more directly than any other profession. They legislate and enforce our laws. They set our taxes. They determine who should go to jail. They pick up our trash. They regulate utilities. They provide us with water.

They are the only people that we select. The clergy selects the clergy, doctors select doctors, lawyers select lawyers, accountants select accountants, journalists select journalists, teachers select teachers , and so on.

Why is it then, that we hold politicians in such low regard? After all we pick them.

All over the world, people in emerging nations are thrilled when they get the chance to vote.

One cannot avoid being involved in politics. One is either an active participant or someone who abdicates their rights to the minority who are active.

Get informed and Vote to preserve your rights.

Prayer in Memory of a Mother

O heavenly Father, remember the soul of my dear mother whom I recall in this solemn hour. I remember with deep reverence and affection the solitude with which she tended and watched over me, ever mindful of my welfare, ever anxious for my happiness. Many were her sacrifices she made in order to ennoble my heart and instruct my mind. May her soul be bound up in the bonds of eternal life and her memory ever be a blessing. Amen.

"The Lord is near the broken-hearted, and for crushed spirits He has help. Many troubles may happen to the good man, but from all such troubles. the Eternal rescues him."
