Time for the Winter Lights

I hope you have those twinkle lights up and intend to keep them up all winter, not just for the holidays. Send photos of lights that you would like to have published to

A holy man was having a conversation with God one day and said, God , I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.
God led the holy man to two doors.
He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in.

In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the holy man's mouth water.

The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished.

They were holding spoons with very long handles, that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful. But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths.

The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

God said, 'You have seen Hell.'

They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one.

There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth water.

The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking. The holy man said, 'I don't understand.'

It is simple,' said God . 'It requires but one skill.

You see they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves.

Upbeat Party Raises Money for a Worthy Cause

Fabiola Toona hosted a fabulous party where over 50 people who dontated more than $1100 To the Grace Center of Hope homeless shelter .

From left to right in the photo are benfactors of the party Walt Kearsley, Fabiola Toona, Greg Rominski, Jay Glover and Stan Freevile. Not in the photo were Dave Bartilson, Mary DuPont, Audrey Leifer, Chris Champine, Jerry Celeskey and Pat Hollenkamp

The group has already scheduled next year's party to occur on December 19, 2009 in a clubhouse so that the party can be expanded.

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It's rare.. You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It'slike buying a sports car with anautomatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going toa party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point ofgoing to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table ,like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center ofattention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're nevergoing to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple, Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruit cake? Granted, it's loaded with them and a tory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips ; startover, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember this motto to live by:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn outand screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Merry Christmas

This Week's Now Famous Person

Jay GloverSanta is now famous because he is appearing in the "Got Mustard Campaign" .He is also famous for spanning the world every Christmas Eve delivering toys to good little boys and girls..

So when you see or contact "Santa" be sure to tell him you've seen him in the "Got Mustard" campaign. You can see the other 550 plus people by clicking on the underlined words above.

So many people have volunteered to participate that we have found it necessary to change the way the slide show runs so that people can browse rather than wait to see their photo with the "digital mustard" on their upper lip. One can replace the phrase in the section box with their first name and deleting any other text in the box. Then only the slides that contain that name are displayed.

If you had your photo taken and can't find it in the slide show please send us an email. If you would like to send a photo to be included, send it to We will supply the "digital mustard".

Congratulations Santa

From Our Readers:

Dear Peggy Jo,

Sailing Singles wishes to thank Cherry Creek Golf and Banquet Center for being an integral part of the success of the organization's Christmas Party at its facility. Not only was the room beautiful, but the service magnificent. The food was so mouth-watering delicious that the accolades were heard around the room. However, more importantly, Cherry Creek went beyond assisting Sailing Singles in this flailing economy by finding a way to cut our costs and breaking precedence in charging for only those that attended instead of the guaranteed number. This was a tremendous assistance to our organization and very much appreciated by all. Cherry Creek Golf and Banquet Center should be kept in mind for all those events that you only want "perfect".

Dear Peggy Jo,

HEMA is a Dutch department store. The first store opened on November 4, 1926, in Amsterdam.. Now there are 150 stores all over the Netherlands.

Take a look at HEMA's product page. You can't order anything and it's in Dutch but just wait a couple of seconds and watch what happens.

Don't click on any of the items in the picture, just wait and see what happens.

This company has a sense of humor and a great computer programmer, ya?

Carl .

Dear Peggy Jo,

Let people know that they can go to this venue [Eleanore and Edsel Ford House Tour] with a museum adventure pass from their library and get 2 people in for FREE! I'm going on Thursday, as a matter of fact. One picks the pass up at the library and 'checks it out'. It's good for a week and does not have to be returned.

Christine Dawson

Dear Peggy Jo,

Thank you for printing that touching story about the "Wooden Bowl". That family learned a valuable lesson from a four-year-old. We have to take the initiative to include not only the old and frail people but any person that does not fit in to our "High Powered, Youth Oriented"; society..

There is a corollary to the the "Wooden Bowl" story and that is to convince people who don't fit in, to not retreat. They are all part of society and should be included. We have to let them know that we are willing to accommodate them and they should not doubt our sincerity by saying that they "don't want to be a burden".

Keep up the good work that you are doing with your newsletter.

Dear Peggy Jo,

Dawn in Toledo catches the Kim Komando show on CKLW 800 AM. That's in Windsor, Ontario. Cool!
This past week, she forwarded me an interesting e-mail. The message asks recipients to send a Christmas card to A Recovering American Soldier. The e-mail also provides the address for the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
I'm sure many of you have seen this message. And, I'm sure many of you would like to brighten Christmas for our soldiers. Unfortunately, the e-mail message isn't accurate. It is true that you can send a Christmas card to wounded soldiers. However, the information provided in the e-mail is incorrect. Cards should be addressed to:
Holiday Mail for Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20794-5456
Cards sent to the address in the e-mail won't be delivered. So, use the above listed address to send your cards to wounded soldiers! Friends and family may have also received the same message as Dawn. So, forward this newsletter to them now. Make sure they get the address right!

And don't forget about Operation Komando! It's a great way to help our troops stationed overseas. Hurry over to my site to learn more!

Dear Peggy Jo,

Subject: Let's surprise NBC!
Here's your chance to let the media know where the people stand on our faith in God, as a nation.
NBC is taking a poll on "In God We Trust" to stay on our American currency.

  • Please send this to every Christian you know so they can vote on this > important subject. Please do it right away, before NBC takes this off the web page.
Poll is still open so you can
